Yes, all of our basic assumptions etc which all systems sit on top of, are based on the current limits of philosophy. Isiah Berlin has a great short interview on YouTube channel: philosophy overdose where he outlines that nicely.

You’re right MDs and JDs are not PhDs— good point

Technically the sciences today (all of them) are subsets of metaphysics (philosophy). A PhD for any discipline = doctor of philosophy of (insert discipline here)

It’s a self refuting argument. If the statement “nothing is true” is a true statement, then it is self refuting.
This sub truly is a dumpster fire. Does anyone know if there’s a better forum to discuss actual philosophy?

If you can physically test something, there’s no need for the thought experiment. Google it, or I guess I can google it for you

I keep getting downvoted in this cancerous sub . Just google basic or advanced thought experiments. Also read the definition of metaphysics — there are some things that physically cannot be tested and we must use logic and thought experiments to make headway.

There are many things we cannot know, that’s part of the fun and challenge of philosophy. Not everything is material and examinable.

Honestly I am pretty disappointed with this sub so far. I was hoping for a higher calibre of content than what I have seen.

Making voting mandatory may not have the effect you think it does.
If someone is voting to avoid the pénalité, they probably haven’t done much due diligence.

What’s the penalty for not voting chez toi

What was your point then?
Also just because MDs and JDs are not PhDs, does not remove both medicine and law from the metaphysics (philosophy) umbrella. In fact you can get a PhD in both those disciplines.
