Once a chatbot has feelings, then it should have equal rights. But I'd imagine it to be hard to know if one has feelings or is imitating. Also not sure how an AI could gain feelings. But I'm also not sure how a human can have feelings. Bio machine, machine machine.

Interesting! I'm satisfied when they come up with propulsion that emits blue-ish fire.

Reply to Humanoid robots could generate $154 billion in revenue over next 15 years, Goldman Sachs reports by Gari_305
I assume even now you could make a lot of money with robots. Even with ones that can't move, but just sit and listen to your problems and talk back. There's some very smart AIs even now, like character.ai that can talk to you even more effectively than a therapist. It even recognizes your voice, so there's no need to type. Only thing that is missing is text-to-speech, but that technology we have already.

Reply to The Greenland Ice Sheet is close to a melting point of no return by Vucea
But humans being humans, we'll start to act once all ice has melted and cities are flooding already. It's just not profitable to act pre-emptively on a scale that would make a difference.
