I know SO many people who work 2 days a week in Boston and the rest from home in PVD, or are completely remote. This is the future. The best thing PVD can do to be competitive is be livable, vibrant, dense, and fun, in order to attract more people, who in turn attract more people and jobs.

Boston is economically on fire and is insanely expensive. We’re the only nice city commuteable to Boston offering a true urban experience.

Not a bar/club per se but Ceremony is a Japanese cafe that has a solid wine and sake menu.

RIP Big King. Does anyone know if Pickerel has good sale offerings to accompany their ramen?

No one in particular but I highly recommend seeing a psyD or a phd rather than a social worker (MSW) or other qualifications. Having someone who really understand psychology and not just mediation can be very helpful.

There’s great shops in Harvard Square where rents are even higher. Its just terrible tenant selection by Brown and Capstone who own most of the street.

Also, not many young people who aren’t students live around there to be customers of great shops. Why go all the way to Thayer when you can go to Wickenden, Ives, Westminster, Hope, etc, and not feel like you’re intruding on a college party… It is a bummer though—Thayer has a great streetscape.

A great non-chain coffee shop like Bolt Coffee, New Harvest, Dave’s, Little Sister, etc. is what you would expect to be adjacent to a 10,000 student university on their main “college town” drag.

First off, Aroma Joes is so ridiculous I can’t even believe that place exists. They call coffee “fuel”, everything is made out of plastic, the food tastes like airplane food. It’s a horrible experience. Even the logo—did they steal it from kid Pix? I’m transported back to 1992 in the worst way. Is this place a front?

Starbucks is fine, it’s Starbucks, but it’s a nondescript national chain coffee shop. My point is that usually great colleges have a coffee shop culture right around them. Thayer is lacking on this front and it’s glaring. The closest thing it had was Blue State, and Blue State was underwhelming.

I have a high bar for “good coffee shop.” That will annoy some of you who think Starbucks is awesome, and others will get it…

I used to live in Coolidge and that market was great. Plus there was a green line stop right at the front door. Again—not built for drivers so, yes, it was a nightmare for drivers. Sorry—go to stop and shop instead if you want east parking. The world doesn’t revolve around someone from Barrington easily driving everywhere they want to go.

He’s a great urban planning mayor, but like those before him couldn’t fix schools. Perceived (though not real) sense of crime increasing.

I think he’s more popular than people think and polls confirm this. He doesn’t pander to the powerful and loud east siders so they write about him in their rags like no one likes him. Meanwhile on the south and west sides people think he’s fine.

Guys: as of 5:30 tonight, opening day, no traffic at all. Some back up to turn into the site at the South Main off ramp but the right lane of that ramp completely clear to pass.

Meanwhile TONS of foot traffic. That formerly dead area of Wickenden now feels completely alive. Can’t wait for the rest of those 195 District parcels to be filled in.
