City Tap (usually the U City location) has also had Younger in the past. Not sure about the last few years or this year.

Check out Code for Philly. I think they’re back to doing IRL meetups now. Events are on meetup.com and they also have a slack group.

It seems like you’re already considering this, but just in case, please don’t leave space heaters running unattended, especially with cats around, as this is a fire risk. Hope you find a safe and warm solution! Sorry you’re having to deal with this over the holidays…

If you’re using more than one, make sure each space heater is on a different circuit, otherwise you’ll keep overloading the circuit and tripping breakers.

Firstly, thank you for doing what you can to be a responsible driver! Secondly, please don’t ever stop at the end of a highway on ramp! On ramps are for bringing your speed up to the flow of traffic so you can safely merge. It blows my gasket every time I see someone stopped at the end of an on ramp - it’s even harder to safely merge when you’re starting from 0mph!

Also a Midwest transplant - it is wild to me how much people here complain about winter weather. That said, Philly just doesn’t have the infrastructure to deal with even small amounts of snow (<6”) in a timely manner.

Pretty sure transporting weed (in any form) across state lines is still a federal crime, but IANAL.

Whatever you do, please be sure to install at least one, ideally several working carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in your home. Gas fireplaces that aren’t vented correctly or that don’t burn off the fuel properly can produce carbon monoxide which is odorless, tasteless, colorless - essentially not detectable without specialized machinery - and can kill you or anyone in the home within minutes.

Pilea or coin plant. I’ve had some success propagating from stem cuttings, but not individual leaves (like a succulent). Once mine got big enough, volunteer plants came up in the same pot, then I lopped off the top (plant got too tall and fell over), sprouted roots in water and then potted.

Greedy companies irresponsibly jacking prices only to stuff more cash into executives’ wallets at the expense of paying living wages and decent benefits is a main driver of inflation. (Note these are predominantly large companies, e.g., Walmart or Amazon, who are seeing record profits and still raising prices, not mom-and-pop local businesses that are struggling to keep up like the rest of us.)

My assumption is that not everyone who is impacted by this takes the time to contact Septa. Without complaint data, it’s hard for them to see or understand the effects of these canceled buses. Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence, or however the saying goes.

It’s been a while since I applied for financial aid, but I think any financial aid (except maybe a private loan, which you should NOT use) requires a FAFSA.

I’ve had similar experiences with buses that look like they’re coming that just disappear off of tracking (either in the Septa app or Transit app) right before they’re supposed to arrive. I’ve had some luck messaging @SEPTA_SOCIAL on twitter - not sure if they do anything, but I think they at least log the complaint.

Use the transit app to map out a route. When I’ve done this (from Roxborough), I’ve taken the 9 or 27 bus to Center City, then switched to the MFL to get to Fishtown. Depending on the time of day, it can take ~1.5 hours.
Edit to add: If you’re close to a regional rail station that would be faster than a bus. Both the 9 and 27 go on 76 and can get stuck in traffic.

To be clear, you only have to apply once, not every year. Once you’re approved, you have the exemption until you sell or it’s no longer your primary residence (i.e., if you rent it out).

Request the money from the destination account (rather than sending from the original account) for greater peace of mind that your money will end up in the right place.
