NYE plans fell apart. I'm not remotely upset by this.

With some luck, it will be a quiet night of eating bone-in pork chops, drinking whisky, and watching Glass Onion on Netflix.

Tomorrow I'll be up early to plant onions.

I cooked and baked and cleaned all day yesterday so that I could enjoy today with the family. We have a big Christmas dinner planned and there will be lots of alcohol and silly games later.

One of my friends still works dispatch/911 and started a double shift at 4AM. I enjoyed working that job but holy hell, itā€™s not healthy mentally. Props to all the people on call today, working shitty shifts, or just away from family.

Omg itā€™s so beautiful right now. My entire downstairs is bathed in peaches and cream sunlight.

My new home. Iā€™m so grateful to be here. Prior to this, I lived in a house for 20 years that was making everyone in my family unhealthy - physically and mentally. Itā€™s been amazing to see the changes in everyone individually and as a family since we moved.

18 yards of organic compost and a new wool sweater would be amazing - but the thing Iā€™m looking forward to the most is having my kids and my extended family in the new house with us on Christmas morning. Cliche as hell but itā€™s really all I want this year.

Iā€™m so sorry to hear that. As a former DAT member for the Red Cross, I know this can be a long road to recovery and an emotional roller coaster. Iā€™m glad youā€™ll be able to spend time together as a family though - regardless of the location.

Do they have immediate housing? A list of any current meds that need replacing? Toiletries or other basics needed to get through the next couple days? Can we help in any way?

I made Not Quite The Worst Blueberry Muffins In The World this morning. The texture is good and I nailed the amount of sour cream to hit the level of tartness I wanted in the batter but I should have used wild blueberries for better flavor and maybe more baking powder for a better rise. They look sad and lifeless on the plate.

I also learned this morning that an artist whose work Iā€™ve admired for years passed away in September so Iā€™m feeling a little sad about that. Iā€™ll probably pull out my small collection of her work this morning with a cup of tea and be nostalgic about her largely unknown influence on people like Lucas, Spielberg, and the many artists who followed her in the comics industry.

Can they be refilled? Yes but itā€™s a DIY job. Theyā€™re not made to be refilled but you can buy adapters to do it.

Should they? Probably not. Itā€™s my understanding that those tanks arenā€™t made to cycle in the same way a standard tank is.

My morning commute is pretty short.

Iā€™m in the process of setting up a very small (human scale, no powered equipment) veggie and greens operation using regenerative agricultural methods.

We just moved to this property last week and so while this time of year is normally for planning next yearā€™s schedule, Iā€™m stupid busy getting plots built, fencing ALL THE THINGS, setting up vermicompost bins, and more. Busy busy!

Iā€™m pretty excited about today despite my kids having grown out of trick-or-treating. I moderate r/HorrorComics and this time of year is always a treat.
