Big budget Hollywood films wouldn't do it because it's super wasteful to do it that way.

Halloween is the sequel to Halloween but not the sequel to Halloween. Technically it's Halloween 2 but it completely ignores the events of Halloween 2 and Halloween 2.

They were planning on adding Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film in 2018. The backlash was fierce and they didn't go through with it. Multiple categories have been proposed including Best Casting and Best Stunts and have been rejected every time. So no. Not really.

The Academy doesn't just add categories on a whim. The last time they added one was in 2001 when Best Animated Feature Film was introduced. Before that was 1981 with Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Then you have to go all the way back to 1948 for Best Costumes.

Comedies don't have great replay value. I've seen them before and obviously know all the punchlines. From the beginning it's obvious what the jokes are.

A lot of Movies are designed for theater sound systems. If you're watching at home on the crappy speakers built into your tv it's going to sound bad
