Reply to A systematic review and meta-analysis found that combining the influenza and COVID-19 booster can increase uptake of the COVID booster, due to people being accustomed to taking influenza vaccines on an annual basis. by glawgii
Are they sure it's not the other way around? The flu shot has always been one of those maybe things for me. The efficacy of them isn't that great. I only got it this year because I was already in there for the new Covid booster.

Reply to Research finds people who are married have a lower risk of developing dementia after the age of 70 than those who are unmarried or divorced. Previous studies suggest that being married later in life protects against dementia, and that being single in old age increases the risk of dementia by Wagamaga
Not being alone is a huge thing. A friend's MIL lived alone for years and she had lots of interactions with her family, etc but was obviously losing her memory. She finally went to a retirement community and it was pretty amazing how much her memory improved.

A large part of it is substance abuse and mental illness. The economic homeless are just who they trot out for the camera. Until we get serious about forcing the issue on treatment there's no solution.

Not profitably for what Reddit thinks a house should cost.

Because the cost of doing so doesn't meet the affordability of those who need houses. The cost to build is through the roof in the SF bay area. Even if it's approved and zoned for it. Developers don't put out that much money to lose money. At least not more than once.

California through code, permits, labor and utility hookups has added an enormous bill onto new houses in the most populated areas. Demand suffers when the basic cost of building goes over 800K.

Are you going to censor Rob Bonta since that fucker flat lies, and misinforms when it comes to firearms topics? And it's not opinion, it's flat out misinformation. It's hard to tell whether he's just a liar or stupid sometimes because it's so blatant. He's an absolute political animal with all the bullshit that comes with it.

And who exactly decides what's disinformation? There's plenty of examples of censorship by social media that wasn't disinformation but is just not agreed with by the censor.
And it's coming from all angles too. How about we work harder at teaching people to be discerning about sources. Bonta is nothing but a partisan hack himself and doesn't mind disinformation when it's favoring his side.

Reply to Lidar technology unearthed tropical megapolis beneath forest canopy of the Calakmul Biosphere | Ancient Maya by marketrent
Lidar and photogrammetry is pretty remarkable at showing manmade structures despite vegetation. When you see the non-colored points the lines become very apparent. On my ranch I had phone line run and they took a dozer and created a path the trench along. After 10 years of the brush and grass growing up it was pretty much indistinguishable to the naked eye. A drone flight and review of the point cloud made the dozer path stand out like a sore thumb although it was still impossible to see in the pictures.

It's a horrible disease. My wife developed it just short of her 29th birthday and has suffered from it and then the drugs for treatment.

I've got a Pixel 5a and it appeared to be Google's service that came rather than a USGS one. I was about 25 miles away and the jolt was very short So short that I wondered if we had just had a quake and looked at some hanging blind cords to see if they were swinging. They weren't but the confirmation of a quake came a couple of minutes later.

I felt the quake and thought it was interesting but my phone told me after the fact by a couple of minutes. Other than a Tsunami it's hard to see how it makes that much difference when it's after the fact.

Combining public and private doesn't make any sense. The California State system isn't that expensive. Especially if you do two years in CC. Even UC's aren't that much more in tuition.
