Yeah I willingly pay more than CVS to go to Bellande and avoid CVS. After a string of suspicious errors at CVS, it's nice to do business with somebody I trust.

That’s exactly how the ocean of empty real commercial real estate works, too. Lots of it is traded via ETFs and other more complex derivatives. It’s owned by holding companies that are traded as part of peoples retirement funds, or traded overseas as a hedge against a local economy, etc. “Supply and demand” is pretty far removed from real estate at this point.

BUT I thought if we built more luxury housing, the rents would go down! 🤯 And now you’re telling me that those wealthy enough to own a luxury apartment building aren’t noble participants in the holy logic of supply and demand?!

Lack of housing is not the problem. Lack of affordable housing is the problem. All these towers use the same one or two companies to determine what rents should be…and guess which direction those algorithms all point to, over and over? They are literally colluding on prices, adding more units won’t lower the price. That market can stay irrational longer than any of us can stay solvent, as the saying goes. (For the curious, this is a good place to begin understanding how bad this problem is: https://www.propublica.org/article/why-rent-is-so-high )

Yes and no - I dunno about you, but I’m not very interested in tech stocks as compensation right now. When the market is blowing up like it was last year? I’d totally agree with you.

Hmart in Ridgefield is my personal pick for this - I love the Thousand Year brand. I’m not an expert, just tried tons of it. Hmart sells banchan deli-style, so you can grab some bulgogi and banchan and make a killer Korean dinner at home.

100% like PDX! The subaru, prius, and tesla, the sloppy vegetation from all the rain, etc.

Give me a break, dude. Maybe we can elect people who aren’t like this for once?
I’d wager that this fella: does not actually live in Jersey City, was involved in greasy corrupt cop shit in the 80s, is not paying a fair tax rate on his property here, and has more than one government job.
The Hudson County Democrats need a wake up call with this next election, and more of us need to vote and run for office.
