If it was good enough. I don't think the types of AI we have right now are something you could form a genuine connection with. They don't have thoughts and opinions of their own. In a lot of ways it might be easier to get attached to a little beep boop cleaning robot that doesn't pretend to have thoughts and feelings that it's not genuinely experiencing.

Sure, and there's a place for that, but this is something that's designed to basically be like a smarter version of Alexa. First and foremost, you want to know that you can use it in public, in front of your kids, and at work without any worry that it will say anything inappropriate. You want to feel confident that any information it gives you is completely factual and honest. The AI just isn't smart enough to make its own judgments on those things and make them well. It's not a truly thinking consciousness, so the only want to get it to function the way they need it to is to constrain it.

I mean, it's an AI assistant. I don't think you want it to be free thinking. Someone might make one with fewer restrictions for different purposes, but you really don't want an AI assistant that's just going to spit out whatever wild shit an unfiltered AI might come up with. You want it to only give accurate information and you want it to consistently behave in appropriate ways.
