A lot of people here commenting seem complwtely oblivious to the fact that the CGI RE movies have been a thing for quite some time and are infinitely better than any of the absolute shitshows of the live action adaptations.

They are awful movies, but you can't say they haven't done what they were intended to do... Make money.
