Canola is a type of rape seed oil made by cultivating the plants to produce less some type of acid that is considered bad for heart health (or something like that).
Canola name is derived CANadian Oil Low Acid

The two pin electric earphone jack might be a carry over from this two hole air tube system. I've seen this air tube setup even in the early 2000s.
