West Philly is my user tag, not the tag on the photo. Also, I didn't give you the down vote, as I was confused to your original comment. π€·πΏββοΈ

Yeah, I was checking up and down the side streets to see if something was on fire as I was out and about last night. Definitely smelled like burning.

I know this is probably a joke, but... It was extremely shallow at this point here. Like, you could probably wade out into the river a few feet (if you were feeling lucky). I was surprised, actually. I assumed the Schuylkill was much deeper.
So, probably not the best body disposal spot tbh.

I second the last sentiment. Penn Medicine has saved my life multiple times, and continues to do so. Good luck, OP!

I rarely frequented this spot. Seems like it was definitely catered more to a different type of clientele than I'm used to. But, I do have a memorable moment...
It was NYE maybe about a decade ago, and my live electronic duo was booked for two sets as part of the entertainment for the night. But, whoever booked us described us as "live DJs", which we definitely aren't (we use synths and beat machines and samplers.... more like live loopers/producers instead of DJs). Anyway, it was an open bar type party, so management was probably expecting a DJ to keep the vibes up for the night. And then, we set up with our crazy rig... many flashing pieces of equipment... and did our (very weird) thing for the first set.
Now, we definitely piqued the interest of some in the crowd. They were curious about our gear and our technique and all. But the manager/owner? He was NOT feeling it. I mean, he was probably expecting a DJ to play the hits, right? So, he approaches us during set break and was completely honest with us (and very professional, actually), told us that we weren't what he was expecting and asked us not to do the second set, but still kept to the contract (free drinks all night, plus our pay).
It was the first (and only) time in my music "career" where I've been cut short, so, a little embarrassing. All the same, we got paid to do half the work, and got drunk off some pretty heady beers, so not the worst night, and not the worst memory!

Oh, for sure. I feel like if you've reached the point of saying things like (and I paraphrase), "they should go door to door through the neighborhood and raid each home", your POV has been settled WAY before this case, or any new facts about it.

I wonder if folks in the other thread talking about sending the military to North Philly to lock down/raid the neighborhood will wake up this morning with a changed heart? Or, will they continue on living on with that viewpoint in their heart? I guess we'll see (they probably won't change).

My only explanation would be... they were at a catered event. But something that I've learned over time? Even if you can't wrap it up properly, a napkin, paper towel, or, another plate does just as good until you either finish the meal, or you get it home.

The 104 is a nice long ride from 69th St to West Chester. The ride itself is about an hour (depending on traffic). Bonus tho? You get dropped off in the center of WC, so you can find a coffee shop or bakery or some fancy shit to kill time before going back to the city!

For all the shit that Florida (rightfully) gets, I've always seen Miami as an oasis of sorts. I went to UM, so maybe I'm biased, but it really is a gorgeous town, and it's great just for a stay (I couldn't really get into living there full-time, so I moved back home after my stint).
If you're into feeling glamorous for a week or so, and if you're into warm sunshine and blue-green waters (that sometimes feels like a bathtub), it's very much perfect.

This is exactly the type of banter I'd expect to hear on a Friday or Saturday night at The Princeton up on the Ave. Weird how I miss that kinda NEasty type humor after all these years. π
On a more serious and somber note tho... This is a fucked up news story, and shocking considering the neighborhood. Used to spend a lot of time up that way in my teen years. So out of place and character, even though the area had its own issues at the time (early 00s). Hope proper justice is served in this case.

Good luck, and good on you for doing that!

Reply to Parent is getting referred to Penn Neurology for suspected ALS. Anyone here have a recommendation regarding specific doctor? by pleeplious
I wasn't admitted for ALS, but I had a cancer related brain tumor that had to be removed back in January, and the lead doctor on my team was Christina Jackson. I can attest that they did a wonderful job (besides how they shaved my curls for incision lol), considering what I was faced with. A very clean removal, with no residual after effects! Kinda amazing, tbh.
Dunno if that helps in any way, but best of luck to you!
