Reply to TIL that one of the few positive health effects of smoking is a drastic reduction of a person's risk of thyroid cancer. According to a Korean study of the health records of over 10M people, smokers have a 36% lower risk of thyroid cancer. Smoking and heavy drinking reduces one's risk even more. by EncyclopediaJake
Reduced risk of the most survivable form of cancer, in exchange for the most lethal cancer. Yippee!

Maine and New Hampshire are culturally very similar. Vermont is bit removed from the other two in this sense, but it's still New England.

Yeah, sinking carriers in their berths means that the flight crews probably survive. The U.S. would have just lost a few additional islands before building more carriers with a lot of pissed-off aviators on board.

You think the entire forested area of Maine (90% of land area) is "someone's yard?"
You have some kind of deeply pathetic Stockholm Syndrome.

It's not reasonable at all to keep people off your land if you aren't actively using it.
If you can't be bothered to slap some purple paint on a tree, you have quite the nerve to complain about people just walking through.

You can't just claim it. Any change would need to affect the entire street AFAIK. Generally it's the town deciding to let the paper street lapse. But this stuff is largely case-by-case, so it would take research and/or a lawyer.

Eagles: Lower Kennebec River near Bath, ideally from a boat. Or any major river, really. Herons on smaller rivers, again best to have a boat. For hawks you can just drive down the highway.
