I've been on almost 20 flights the last 5 years and they have all had the standard single 3.5mm jack that's compatible with most headphones.

Just want to chime in amd say that this is absolutely true. Tons of other nations don't require anything like this. I can do my taxes by simply logging in on a government website, read the report they've got, and if I see nothing wrong, be done with everything by clicking "send". Takes a whole 2 minutes for most salaries people.
97% of the time, all my deductibles are already there and correct to the last cent.

I completely agree. Binge watching is a short term "pleasure" but I think it's detrimental to the long term impact of shows. Either you binge everything asap, or you get the show spoiled on next Mondays lunch break.
It turns the entire thing into a solitary experience. You never really feel like there's a point in talking to acquaintances about the shows, because the odds of you being at the same point in the show are so low.

Shows are only successful if everyone binges them in the first week. Having a backlog of shows that last all the way to the end of the story seems to not be important to them.

Reply to comment by Tomi97_origin in Eli5 Why there arent like 20gb USBs instead each usb has twice as much as the previous(8gb,16gb,32gb,64gb,128gb by nightmarebg69
Not really a complete explanation. It's not impossible to make a 20 GB USB drive, you just need to use a 16 GB chip combined with a 4 GB chip in the same USB drive.
However, this adds complexity to the circuit board, and it's easier to just buy 100000 32GB chips and make 100k USB drives from that, than it is to buy 50k 16GB chips and 50k 4GB chips and put these two chips on the same board for 20 GB. You'd also get better discounts from the chip manufacturers by buying 100k of a single chip than half as many of two different chips.
The chip cost is also just a portion of the total cost of the drive. You still need the same number of USB plugs, and with two chips, the plastic casing needs to be bigger, which also costs more money. Then it also needs to be packaged in some way to make it to stores, and because the unit in total is bigger with two chips, it'll weigh more and take up more space, which makes shipping more expensive.
So even if you're saving 25% of the chip costs by buying one 16 and one 4 gb chip, that's perhaps just 50 cents less on a unit that is gonna sell for let's say 20. Now the customer is faced with a choice of 32 GB for 20 bucks, or 20 for 19.50.

If you, a non-paying player is in the game, that's another target for the paying player to shoot at.
One more or less player on a map doesn't change the operating costs of the servers significantly, and the bandwidth you consume is minuscule.
The development costs will be the same no matter how many are playing the game, and the cosmetic items are paid for by those who use them.

I know, and OP got this answer already. I was just saying that the previous commenter was misunderstanding the original question.

That's correct, but OP wasn't talking about the danger to passengers who only pass by security a few times a month or year, they're talking about the operators who sit there all day long, 5 days a week, the whole year.

That's correct. The full body scanners use millimeterwave radiation that is non-ionizing (can't cause DNA damage) and barely gets deeper than your clothes.
The metal detectors don't use radiation at all, they use magnetic fields and detect changes in the field as metal passes through it.

Reply to comment by redmose in Question about "external" PC cooling and GPU integrity by PerformanceIcy3801
There's is a shutdown threshold, but it's unlikely to get that high if it's also throttling. Perhaps if you had a complete fan failure, or the heatsink fell off.
Throttling is bad and you should want to avoid it, but having it happen isn't going to cause damage, only lost frames.
pseudopad t1_iuc42ha wrote
Your GPUs integrity will be preserved by your GPUs sensors and firmware. It will throttle (and thus reducing its heat output) before taking damage, unless the card is defective.
If it's defective, you should try to get it fixed or replaced through the manufacturer's warranty, not point a fan at your PC.
If your PC needs more airflow, adding fans in the right spots inside the PC itself will be a far more effective solution, as well as more quiet. Probably not more expensive either. Case fans aren't expensive.

Super-fast charging is going to require some pretty beefy cables eventually. If you want to charge a 50 kWh battery in 10 minutes, you'll need something like 300 kW of power supply to that single charger. And that's if it's charging at constant power, which it likely won't, because it'll slow down towards the end. Serving 4 cars at once will require 1.2 megawatts. Not saying it's impossible, but it certainly requires some planning.

The question isnt why they're not changing to Bluetooth. It's why they use dual 3.5s instead of a single 3.5.
