I still call it shepherd's pie - or pate chinois. :) I will not cook with lamb, sorry. Not doing it. And no cheese. or tomato. But plenty of herbs and seasoning and it's just fine, thanks.

I think my highest bill has been about 170. Even in summer it is still about the same as we just switch from heat to AC.

I add mushrooms, peppers and don't use pepperoni. Never have. And I also use sauce.

Right. As I said, a lot of Maine doesn't though. I didn't say none of maine.

Most of the time in Maine there's only a left lane and a right lane. No "far right lane."

My husband and I want to live somewhere we don't see any traffic for days. That sounds like a huge plus.

I witnessed Versant crews working round the clock. My own power was back at 9 at night - well outside business hours. Should they have been out before the storm was done, further risking their lives and having their work undone?
ETA: A friend works for Versant. Crews can be on the road until 10pm performing repairs. As an FYI.

How far back from the roads should people clear? Should we be clear cutting our yards? 🙄

This is not the golden idea people think. Ledge. Rural communities. Funding. How high do you want those monthly bills? You thought people had issues paying now. Oh. And maintenance expenses. Cost of adding something new.
There's a LOT of reasons this is a bad idea.

You poor thing. What do you want " x street in your town will be back at this exact time" ? You sound so spoiled. What are you, 12? With that much wide spread damage, they were doing the best they could - on Christmas Day no less.

Are you kidding me? We live in a very rural state and they had close to 60,000 customers without power. Nearly as much as the ice storm. The employees are giving up their Christmas to get everyone going again and anyone bitching just sounds like an ungrateful brat. The fact they've gotten as many people going again as quickly as they have is pretty impressive.

Something happened around 5 - big flashes right around WZON/Northeast Eye Center - I think that's what took down the power. I had to turn around atWZON. ThTs when Broadway Shopping Center went. Thankfully, Bangor Drug still had power, and I could pick up meds.
