2 adults in a 1200 sq. foot house. Heat pump, radiant heat (run by oil), 1 smallish chest freezer, electric stove, drier, washer, dishwasher, etc.

I think my highest bill has been about 170. Even in summer it is still about the same as we just switch from heat to AC.

I witnessed Versant crews working round the clock. My own power was back at 9 at night - well outside business hours. Should they have been out before the storm was done, further risking their lives and having their work undone?

ETA: A friend works for Versant. Crews can be on the road until 10pm performing repairs. As an FYI.

Are you kidding me? We live in a very rural state and they had close to 60,000 customers without power. Nearly as much as the ice storm. The employees are giving up their Christmas to get everyone going again and anyone bitching just sounds like an ungrateful brat. The fact they've gotten as many people going again as quickly as they have is pretty impressive.

Something happened around 5 - big flashes right around WZON/Northeast Eye Center - I think that's what took down the power. I had to turn around atWZON. ThTs when Broadway Shopping Center went. Thankfully, Bangor Drug still had power, and I could pick up meds.
