The parks/rec departments for all the cities around here too, though I have no idea how much they qualify as wildlife related

WSDOT and WA DNR post fairly often on Twitter and FB, regarding seasonal jobs, if you'd look at that as a way to get your foot in the door.

I live in the mid columbia valley , where this happened. If 20 over was a felony, half the population would be in jail or have a family member in jail, and the ag sector would be destroyed. Not saying it's good, but the rules of the road out here are pretty different.

A pretty steep conjecture, that the wrong way driver wouldn't have been even more dangerous if he was fleeing a pursuit. Though it's very weird that there wouldn't be communication between WSP officers in Ellensburg and Yakima and Sunnyside (as well as sheriffs). WSP is pretty tight lipped though- we may never know what happened. I've already seen more than one version of this story, in different local media (I live nearby in Tri Cities)

By may, rt 20 should be open, it's gorgeous.
Take i5 past Mt Vernon to rt 20, go to Diablo lake,, head across to twisp, then down 97 to vantage, then across 90 to the potholes/Othello. That's maybe three days if you do lots of stuff along the way. Also, you could take a little detour to Coulee city, if you like huge dams. The it depends if you want the wide open spaces or the mountains. Personally I'd head down to Walla Walla and do some touristy stuff
Never thought about it, but there's waymore than you can do in a week, especially if you like to take breaks and do stuff.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids, it really does help keep all your mucus moving a bit better. (This isnt "triple your intake" or whatever, I don't know what your normal intake is, just try to make sure you haven't been neglecting to drink enough water/tea/etc)

Too many risks. A major investment like a car is not the time to learn about all the ways things can go wrong.

Problem- too many cars on the road at once. Cause- rush hour. Don't take it personally. But you might be part of the problem.

I5 in WA is about 275 miles long, but I'm guessing you're looking at Seattle or Tacoma. If public transportation is available, look at it. Spending that time reading or sleeping isn't horrible.
WSDOT has a good website and tons of information about whatever projects are going on. They're also pretty responsive on Twitter and Facebook, but you have to do some reading work first, they get zillions of "how do I make my life better" posts, but they tend to answer specific questions.

The chances of problems from poor visibility, spray from trucks, and other drivers, are probably more relevant than the winter weather right now. The pass isnt "just sit back and cruise", even in good weather, till you've driven it a few times.

From the Oregon side, getting to W3natchee/ Leavenworth isn't so bad. But that would still be a bad time of year to learn about winter driving.

Liquor licenses were a pretty popular cudgel during covid issues. Personally I have zero issues with that, but the state probably spent way more on warning letters and inspections and enforcement, than it would have ever made in revenue

There are more responsibile drinkers than the other way around. Punishing everyone for the actions of a few is crap. Maybe look at the sociology that's almost exclusively part of any substance abuse disorder

That's more or less what I figured. They're so obviously stilted and amateurish in their wording, it has to be about feelz not actual attempts at doing anything. Not worth the actual effort, but itd be funny to compare the stuff the anti tax people complain about, to the stuff their elected reps are voting for.
