"You are wrong because this topic makes me uncomfortable, let me tell you what you're actually going through" This attitude is a huge part of the problem

Moving from a tolerant, diverse Bay Area city to small town Texas during my formative years was pretty much the worst decision my mom made for me, went from "I wanna go to outer space when I grow up" to "I don't even wanna wait at the bus stop to go to school because these cops randomly pull up and ask "what are you little ----ers doing?!?"" Man, I hated my life out there
