Dude comparing death tolls of economic systems is not the argument you’d wanna take here. There are a million criticisms of 20th century communist states, but the amount of death and misery caused by capitalist states in that time (and what continues today) dwarfs those by an insane margin.
And honestly, none of this matters bc there is barely a Left in the US, and even the most left-leaning politicians are lukewarm social democrats. And I personally do like Bernie a lot, I think he’s a decent person, but if he’s the left wind of acceptable discourse, then I don’t really think people have the right to be complaining about the dangers of the “progressive US left” or whatever lol

No, it needs a city link route. The avenue is a super popular destination. It’s insane that it’s not accessible by transit 24/7

Am I misreading your comment, or are you saying there aren’t a lot of joggers/walkers in Remington? Cuz if so, I’d disagree somewhat strongly. I live adjacent to there and there’s good foot traffic, especially with all the new businesses and developments. It dies down a bit in the summer and winter when JHU students are on break though.

Are you looking for a more urban rowhome, or a single family home still within city limits?

Local (Baltimore native) developer bought it. Claims he wants to make it more enticing and maybe more in line with the local-attraction stuff it had back in the day. People are somewhat optimistic since there’s no way it can get worse.

Yes. This is a great idea. There’s enough north/south roads for cars downtown, and especially now with remote work and Covid there’s way less congestion anyway. Return Howard street to the people and rail!

Philly has this with their streetcars too. Has the same issue. America is so fucking stupid lol

Lived in Brooklyn NY for 5 years. Like 10x filthier than Baltimore, not even close. In NYC, garbage is left out on the curb since they have no alleys, so there's just garbage and rats like 2 days a week. Not saying Baltimore is immaculate but this whole thread is just so far removed from reality lol.

I visited Portland this spring and was pretty shocked too. Just covered in garbage. Yet somehow it's so damn expensive and has this positive reputation? For all its faults, at least Baltimore is cheap lol

Yep, that’s the problem. There’s not much you can do to fix it. Believe me, I’ve tried. Best to just get a diff mix and move on with your life. Tabasco makes a decent spicy bloody mix

I think people truly underestimate how much it hurt this city having a governor who measured his own success by the failures of our city. I’m looking forward to seeing how Wes Moore can work with Mayor Scott and co.

I live pretty much right there. It’s a fine area for the most part. Depends on the street, but during the day you’re completely fine regardless. That said, I wouldn’t really be hanging out in the middle of the night at like greenmount and 24th lol, but that’s all

Moved back to Baltimore a year ago after being in NYC for 5 years.
I hate to not answer your question, but here’s a suggestion: try to enjoy things that are unique to Baltimore that you can’t really do/get in NYC. If you’re trying to do things you loved in NYC, you’ll be disappointed since you can get the subway, good pizza, bagels etc. anywhere else tbqh lol.
Try to enjoy the seafood, cheap drinks, chatting with and actually knowing your neighbors, ease of travel to nearby hikes/actual nature, restaurants/venues/art spaces with actual diversity of class, the easygoing slower pace of life lol. Stuff like that.
Luckily for me, I still know people in NYC, so I can go back and eat some awesome pizza and bagels and pay $20 for a cocktail haha.
Hope this helped :)

They would not. I love a good BRT line but a light rail or subway would be preferable for sure. The main difference is that BRT could be ready to go within months, versus a subway line taking almost a decade to complete.

I mean, they do compared for the majority of neighborhoods with no access. But yea, a ton of stops have abysmal logistics for people nearby to even get there.

Hmm that’s strange. I’ve only ridden the subway a few times and all within the last year just for fun - but the one thing it had going for it was that the station and cars were both immaculate. Of course, that was largely because so few people were riding lol…
