The application to register does require ID. They ask for your PA ID number. If you don't have that, they ask for the last 4 digits of tour SS#.

FYI, your SS# is required in order to get a PA ID.

In 2021, the PA GOP wanted to hand over all of the voter registration roles to a third party vendor. One of the greatest objections was that it would expose the SS# of every registered voter in the state.

Reply to City steps by MacysMama

We hung out on them a lot when I was a kid. I always thought they were such a great feature of the city.

How is that anyone's problem but the motorist? Is just other motorists you're concerned about, along with your own vehicle? If you know this is a possibility in this area, then it;'s your responsibility. Maybe find some place else to park. Or report it to 311, and have the property owner repair it. I don't see why this is so hard for you to understand.

And you don't seem to understand the idea of personal responsibility. You can't park on the curb. The curb is in bad shape. Don't park too close to the curb. If your vehicle is too big to park an inch away from the sidewalk, then it's on you for bringing a vehicle too large into the environment. Maybe find a place to park that is safe for your vehicle.

Why should I stop? I really don't care if you think you are more entitled to public spaces than I am.

Do you think that illegally parked cars don't effect me? They impede foot traffic on the sidewalks and in crosswalks. They destroy private property. Motorists move into a city with outsized vehicles and expect everyone to move over for them.

Unintentionally breaking the law is still breaking the law. It's against vehicle code to park on sidewalks. Maybe be more careful, if you already know this will be an issue.

I'm in Pittsburgh. We bought here about 25 years ago.

You might be able to find something in the neighborhood of $130k, but it will probably need work. I would say that they might be home-owner kept up, but not upgraded, if that makes sense. Think paneling, drop ceilings and shag carpeting. The mechanics of the house might be good, though. Like, is the electrical and plumbing upgraded? And when was the last time the roof was replaced? Check out the basement and be aware that dirt floors in the basement are vulnerable.

I'm in Lawrenceville, which is really close to downtown Pittsburgh. Right across the Allegheny from me is Millvale. It's just as close as I am, but is not part of Pittsburgh. You might want to look there. If you do, try to limit your search to the slopes area. Millvale has had an issue with flooding in the past.

There is a line of these small independent areas along the Allegheny. Aspinwall, Etna, Millvale. They are all really close in. I think that cities that have lrger boundaries, these would just be considered neighborhoods. But they are separate towns and townships with their own governance.

I think the framework is something that McCarthy has been floating since October 2022:

https://www.house.gov/leadership/newsroom/101822-0

The GOP will hold the debt ceiling hostage unless they can get massive spending cuts to Social Security and Medicare. The GOP has no plan proposed to replace these social programs, and it will dump enormous numbers of citizens into abject poverty if the GOP is given traction to proceed with their plan. I don't understand how any working person in the US can support the GOP when they have made it clear on so many fronts that they are willing to put SS and Medicare on the chopping block at the benefit of the massive corporate machine.
