Oh shit California is great I’m jealous. One of the few states I’d rather live in than NJ.

Based on weather conditions it was worse but valley forge is better remembered because of the higher mortality rate mostly due to the spread of disease

Most of it is apartments for the college kids honestly. There was one up for sale a few years ago though so they do go on sale from time to time

For real the scariest thing in Newark is how damn dangerous it is to walk around downtown and the ironbound due to how poor the pedestrian infrastructure is and how cars just speed by

Or their parents/grandparents telling them about how it used to be “such a nice city”. You know, when it was literally run by the mafia.

Yeah that’s not a thing. Call it something else. Words and ideas have meaning and you don’t get to make them up as you go to suit your purposes.

Just pointing out that putting trash out in big platic bags on the sidewalk is actually only a NYC/north jersey city thing in my experience. Most other cities I’ve been in they put out garbage in dumpsters, trash cans, etc

Given that she claims that the city’s (black) history starts with the rebellion I wouldn’t put much stock in what she has to say. That completely excludes all of the black history that Newark is renowned for up to that point and is a pretty wildly ignorant claim from someone who fashions herself a “historian”.
