Yup. Fourth smallest state by land area in the country but most superfund sites, especially in proximity to where the majority of people live here. But any time the stereotype of us being a polluted mess comes up this sub falls all over itself to excuse it

Reminder that the largest city employee union endorsed this chuckle fuck in the primary. Anyone who is a member of that union should be calling for the resignation of their leadership.

Eh no NJ governor can win without the support of the suburbs but Murphy absolutely would not have won either term as governor without landslide numbers in our cities. He should absolutely be doing more to alleviate issues with the PATH and seemed to be dedicated to making Newark more of a place of importance in his first term but has since pivoted to try and become more “moderate” in appeal so he can got trounced in the first round of a presidential primary

Hell I’ll settle for trains every ten minutes instead of 20 during the middle of the god damn week day on the NWK-WTC line

Newark museum of art and Newark local beer are both downtown and worth a visit if you’re into either of those things. Also check out branch brook park and the cathedral basilica of the sacred heart nearby.

For sure it snows less than it used to in the 90s but that’s true everywhere else too. I think the frustrating thing I encounter is western NYers who insist buffalo doesn’t get much snow but in comparison to the rest of the country it absolutely does and is frequently the snowiest mid sized city in the country

Ask people from buffalo/western NY and they will absolutely claim they don’t get that much snow anymore. Which is just baffling but they certainly claim it

You’re not wrong, I would have liked to see a black leader with connections to Newark go up here too but I think this is a marketing tool more than anything else. Basically if they chose someone with Newark connections it wouldn’t get as much attention, especially outside of Newark, and they want stuff like this to add to the overall attention Newark is getting now as the city gentrifies rapidly.

It’s definitely better than driving into NYC but the problem is the lack of frequency and that all the lines are basically designed to get you in and out of NYC rather than as a way to get around the state with ease.

LaMonica McIver, councilwoman of the central ward, specifically believes this unfortunately. She thinks gentrification only occurs when POC are displaced by white people. If it’s POC doing it to other POC it’s not gentrification according to her.
