There's definitely a crossover even if they can be very different worlds in one city. It's only my opinion but I feel like there are more yalies who become new haveners than there are new haveners becoming yalies
Either way idgaf who you are or where you're from just look before you walk out in the middle of the street and we're solid

As an electric/gas user I politely disagree. We just like you get robbed every single month. Our supply charges, yeah they're not terrible. It's the delivery charges where you're paying at least 3 times more than supply. At least. It can be astronomically more. If you belong to the ct subreddit Eversouce is the devil here. But everyone's thumbs are in everyone else's pockets so the PURA just sets whatever rates they want and the AGs office just goes along with it. They'll put out a statement now and then. Hell we got a $15 credit after losing power for 9 days during Isaias. But it's the most they'll ever do. Bc frankly they've made it clear they don't give a damn
It's not okay. I miss lower new haven county and having UI. It's the best I've ever known

I lived in new haven for most of my life and all over the town. This is average especially with the weather getting nicer. My suggestions as a grown ass woman that didn't make it past 5'1. Ignore it, obviously stay vigilant and constantly aware of your surroundings but literally do not give them any attention. I always had a keychain with pepper spray or mace. If it's late at night or you're uncomfortable keys in your fingers brings a small sense of safety. I learned very young very quick the worst thing you can do is to stop and talk to them or acknowledge them at all. Keep on moving and get where you're tryna go
Also around the green there are always people from the courthouses and stores around. If you're walking and someone does that find a fake friend. I've walked up to literal strangers and asked if I could pretend to know them and chat for a minute so someone would bugger off and leave me alone. Living in new haven you'll achieve the wonderful skill of feeling a person out without ever speaking to them. I never felt unsafe anywhere in new haven but I was always hyper aware of my surroundings bc that's what they taught me k-8 in our mandatory street safety classes. I doubt they do that anymore but it stuck with me. Stay safe out there 💚

The information is technically "private" but yes they absolutely keep records. There are limits on how much you can get per day they have to know who's coming and going and how much/what they're getting. It might not be an accessible national database but you absolutely are in the system

Not anymore you can just walk in and go to a person and they'll help you with options and figuring out what you want. I did it for the first time and it wasn't slow but ordering online is definitely faster
tequilamockingbird37 t1_j4xafhr wrote
you can order ahead and just pick up your order it's super easy. there's a limit on how much you can buy at a time so people will walk in pick up, go back outside put it in their car and go back inside for more. you also don't have to pre-order now they have people who can help you find or decide anything you're looking for and they're all really great and friendly. they'll ask when you get there if it's medical or recreational and direct you where to go. just have an ID and you're good to go

And don't you have anything better to do? Like find a place to live on zillow, realtor, hotpads, apartments, craigslist, facebook marketplace, the countless others not to mention just plain old driving around looking for signs. But no you're here on reddit too. Get over yourself. I'd say the entitlement screams of East Rock but that's insulting to east rock

you're being downvoted as this person continues to copy and paste the same response with complaints about neighbors. that's literally apartment living. oh I've never had neighbors like this and I'm being woken up at night. and you want to move to new haven? kay sure. youve clearly never lived here. go on Google and find a place like everyone else instead of bitching on reddit that kids will be kids and neighbors will be neighbors
ya know what I reconsidered. there are definitely parts of new haven this person could fit in

They've been closed for a while now. The chef/owner for some time did things like fishing and private dinners for people but idk if he still does it now. I do still miss it my favorites were the pumpkin miso soup and sake bombs. I was lucky to live in the building behind them and always had great sushi
