Check to see if it's saltwater or something!! That's important! And don't forget the water temperature- your friend probably has a manual somewhere

Make sure the bubbles in the water are constantly turning! Oxygen in water can run out, make sure at the least that the fish are having a constant supply of it! Use one of those bubbling things
