I have to say, moving here from NY 15 years back and abandoning the BECSPK on the classic hard roll was difficult for most of my early years. I lived in Rutland initially but nothing could compare. The best I had down in that area came from Sunup Bakery in Killington.

Now I live in Middlebury and Middlebury Bagel is definitely a fantastic option. But - the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had in Vermont comes from Capitol Grounds in Montpelier. A very close second is (actually where CG acquires their bread) at the Red Hen Baking in Middlesex.

Hmmm. Interesting take you have.

I’m from the greater NYC area and have lived here for over 15 years. The food is incredible all over the state. Ethnic cuisine is harder to come by, but in some towns there are a plethora of options.

Just to name a few unforgettable restaurants that that come to mind: Hen of the Wood (Waterbury, Burlington), Roots (Rutland), Doc Ponds (Stowe), The Rez or Pro Pig (Waterbury), Three Penny Taproom (Montpelier), The Drake or Twiggs (St. Albans), The Garlic or Preston’s or Choices (Killington, VT). I haven’t traveled through much of southern Vermont but I know there’s some great spots in Manchester and Brattleboro as well.

Idk, just my experience but I’m pretty well traveled and love all food… I just think perhaps you are looking for something else or not looking enough.
