That is wonderful. My ex eventually got clean and we are friends again. I’m part of her younger child’s life as well as his dad took off. It was just frustrating as it really was eye opening as to how fucked up VT custody defaults were.

How did your end up. I ended up with every other weekend and taking my ex to court ever other month citing her latest stint in rehab or with addiction until about 3 years later court finally gave me 50/50. Not full custody mind you because she was getting help, and relapsing every few months but still getting help.

Similar thing with my brother except he finally got custody after 6 months in court because theom stopped sending the kid to school for 4 months because she didn't want to get up and help him get ready.

VT custody laws are so slanted toward the mother it is crazy.

I was not implying you created the title. Only pointing out that the title of the article while factual is meant to invoke a specific sentiment while the details of the “doubling” is much or nuanced and complex than “government officials double their pay”.

Your out of state comment it noted and ignored. I still believe it is nearly impossible to identify and relate to the historic and generational issues which impact a state when you grow up in a wealthy suburb of an east coast city.

Kind of a clickbait title.

> 180 lawmakers, who currently make $14,610 per year, would earn just under $30,000. Lawmakers would also become eligible for medical benefits.

Being a lawmaker in VT is a 6 month a year commitment. This will at least make it so you can do so and then survive on a less than stellar job the rest of the time. Maybe it would lessen the number of MA and NY native who walk the halls at the statehouse.

Ok. Maple taste off.

I grew up in Franklin County. Worked with some of the big namea up there as a grunt. They all use RO now. I think most places do.

I have never heard of steam to boil though. But yes, wood vs gas vs oil matters. I think it is unfair to try to sweep "Quebec" into any single method though. Just as presumptuous as assuming any of VT is better then all of Quebec.

It’s actually backed by studies which show the male brain is still not developed at 18 (thus the criminal charging status for 18 to 21 year olds) as well as studies which show the longer someone waits to drink the less likely they are to become dependent. If the topic is of interest I encourage you to google it. Just preventing that first sip until after like 17 statistically reduces the chance of alcoholism by double digits.

That is not true. When you control 70% of the market some is blended. Some from local VTsugar houses is blended as well. What do you think Morse Farm is pulling from that 50 gallon barrel and putting in the creeme machine.

Quebec produces all the same grades as VT and it tastes the same.

I know everyone here is into VT exceptionalism but it’s just not the case. The syrup produced in Quebec 50 miles north of the Brannons farms in Fairfield is the same as the stuff produced on this side of the imaginary line.

Stop spreading lies like it’s all blended. At least just be honest and say you have either never had it, prefer VT products for non flavor response of at the very least compare graded syrup to graded syrup and not blended.

"poors"... I grew up on public assistance, without hot water or a bedroom. The 5 lbs blocks of cheese people joke about, I grew up eating those. I had an older brother so never had anything new and everything I owned was a hand me down. At one point me and my 4 siblings shared the living room while my parents had the bedroom of a 1 bedroom apartment.

Being poor sucks. My siblings and I spent our youth in the gutter and now we are making sure our children don't have to live like that.

I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination but I'm comfortable and I've been working since I was 15 years old to get there.

Sorry your shit is not working out but don't blame me for that.
