Close off the square and the surrounding block to vehicle traffic to start, it’s nuts that people drive through the square to get where they’re going. It’s inconvenient for cars and pedestrians, and I feel like half the time people only go through it by accident because everyone who frequents downtown never drives through the square unless they have to, because there are better ways.

I will respond, yes you’re right, Springfield specifically has no shortage of places to live! That’s actually one awesome thing about living here that I appreciate.

However, we are still effected by the disproportionate increases to rent versus minimum wage, and I’m not saying it’s the fault of anyone, but the people making the least money are still out of luck when it comes to finding an affordable apartment, let alone a house to buy. My point is that it is better in Springfield and the gap is smaller than many places in the country, but it’s still there and people are still struggling.

It depends on your price, nw and ne Springfield will be the least expensive, and are the “sketchiest” but they are getting safer because first time home buyers are buying the houses that are being renovated really rapidly. It’s really not dangerous here except for on the streets. There are a lot of homeless people and you might get your bike lifted if you have a cheap lock but that’s it honestly, there aren’t gangs in Springfield.

Nicer places are around the south side of msu campus, to the east of it around cherry street is nice too, and then there are cookie cutter neighborhoods on south side, and they’re more expensive
