Don't know because I'm a national advocate (for more on open captions see r/opencaptions). Would be happy if our local independent theater just had decent seats never mind stadium.

Yes. Some people with autism benefit from open captions.

And people who don't like or can't use that equipment simply won't go, costing the theaters lost business. So more theaters are doing both.

Those who need captions do have disabilities (e.g., deaf/hard of hearing, autism). And many of those do not like closed caption equipment for multiple reasons.

The devices are required. The open captions (oc not cc) are not required but are often the preferred option by customers who want or need oc.

Just FYI. Most people who go to open caption screenings don't have hearing loss. So it isn't really just about inclusivity anymore.

Are any of those four theaters reasonable drive from you so you can have a chance to go back to a theater and enjoy yourself more?

That's part of the problem. Theaters think people won't go to open caption screenings so they push them into the worst time slots. It is a chicken and egg problem in that we can't get better timed until attendance improves, and attendance won't improve without better times. That's why I did this post to increase awareness of availability of open captions.
