Bidwell tavern in Coventry has really good wings, but they’re not cheap. I haven’t been in a few years, but I’m sure they’re still as good as they used to be.

OP meant Killingly. The same town that recently tried to change the name of their sports teams from “Redmen” to “Red Hawks”, but then the town voted out the school board members and elected several republicans that only ran on the platform of overturning the name change vote. Now they will keep the Redmen name for their teams, but will lose $94k a year in funding from the Pequot/Mohegan tribes.

Logee’s is worth visiting just to walk through their greenhouses. Great selection of tropical stuff. But also check with the florist shops in your area, as I usually see a few orchids for sale in most of them.

Can’t glass be melted and reblown? Make it mandatory for companies to use a certain % of recycled glass in all their glass containers sold in the state.
Ban plastic containers. Every single thing in the grocery store and Walmart/target can be sold in some form of cardboard. And this will create a business opportunity for people to figure out other non-plastic/biodegradable containers. You have to force a market opportunity.
The problem is that companies like to keep costs low and will lobby against these types of things. At the very least, we should hold them accountable for the waste they produce via fines/taxes.
And the state should have an online return tax, that companies like Amazon have to report to the state, just like with sales tax. If you return something, you pay a tax to the state. 10-20%+ of what Amazon sells is returned and either thrown out or liquidated, adding to packing waste, landfill waste, and truck pollution. Make it financially unappealing to the customer to return something , which will in turn force better purchase decisions.

This! Clover was not considered a weed, and was known to be valuable in lawns/pastures. But the chemical companies couldn’t figure out how to make a weed killer that didn’t also kill clover, so they simply branded clover a weed. We need to get past this idea that a nice green grass lawn is a good thing. They are terrible for the environment. We have a lawn that requires no water, lime, fertilizer, or herbicides. In the spring it’s a beautiful mixture of cool season grass and flowers (violets, dandelion, etc). In early summer the clover takes off and by July when things heat up, the clover and warm season grasses start to take over. By mid fall, everything is dormant but the cool season grasses. The lawn is pretty much always green from April to December, is always nice to walk on, and only needs to be mowed once a week at most.
