Not a teacher, but a type of specialist working in public school. The list is long but two things that come to mind are 1. an increase in unsafe behavior/extreme disruption and 2. failure to recruit and retain direct service staff (paras and interventionists) due to inadequate pay relative to the stresses of the job.

This and the tailgating fkn everywhere. For tailgaters out there: you’re not getting there any faster. Maybe like half a minute? We are going to be stopped at the same red light down the road so just chill man. Use cruise control if you have to. Frame your expectations around the speed limit+5 mph, maybe +10 in the passing lane on the highway. If you’re tailgating me when I’m going over the speed limit, you can bet I’m clicking cruise control down to the actual speed limit and we’re just going slower.

If they did just the transfer waiting period and the ban for hate crime perps, this would seem more sensible. Making it harder for people to legally defend themselves seems weird given the recent increase in violence. I don’t even own a gun and I don’t like this.

He’s saying you need future data points to put this year into context before being able to say if 2022 is an anomaly or the beginning of an upward trend. It has nothing to do with belief, it’s just math.

What reason do you have to believe the person won’t vacate on the 1st? If they’ve stated as much, it’s important for the landlord to know. Burlington has some of the most tenant-friendly rental laws in the US, which in this case could work against you. If the landlord has to evict this person, it could take a long time if they are being truly stubborn about it. Try to figure out a plan B and hope for the best. If you have a signed lease, you do have the right to be in the place when the lease starts, even if this other person didn’t leave yet.

Both airbnb specifically and investment property in general are taxed and taxed heavily. When you airbnb you pay both property taxes and room and meals tax.

That’s a broad generalization though. I have masters+ education and worked in crowded rooms full of people throughout the pandemic. Come to think of it, I might be doing something wrong lol.

Owning a structure on leased land seems like such a bad situation. Not a knock on you, OP, just an observation based on what happened on Lakeshore in Colchester and reading stories like yours.

I am an educator and BCBA and have been working in VT public schools for a decade. The aggression and extreme disruption is a lot worse than many people (including parents) realize. Things like classroom evacuations happen frequently and are not reported in any official way. Inclusion means a lot of stuff happening in gen ed environments. We are doing the best we can but societal issues are leaking into the schools and we are out of space and losing staff.
