It's reddit, there's a bias towards grumpy people who share their thoughts behind a screen and not in person. Take that for what you will.

Love love Albi but they don't have steak on the menu.
St. Anselm is delicious and modern, but it's not going to be your classic steakhouse experience. Bourbon steak would be my recommendation if you're going for a steak house. The vegetarian options will likely be sides, but the sides are amazing and won't feel like a compromise.

You are who you surround yourself with. While easy to be surrounded by miserable people in DC there are also many many interesting and vibrant people that call DC home.

Have you had a plumber look at it? It can be more costly and intensive than you may imagine depending on available pitch for draining. Additionally if your building is older make sure you know if you need to upgrade the electricity to handle washer dryer.

You're saying I'm in a car and I'm the only one that matters. Just follow the rules and make eye contact if appropriate.

This is the effect of phones and two years of isolation, it's not just a DC thing. That said please don't do the hand motion thing. Just follow the rules of the intersection and proceed. When cars play traffic cop it only confuses things and it's condescending.

What bike lanes in DuPont do you find underused? They're all heavily utilized.

Personally I'd do Rasika, but get that indian may be a bit too adventurous. Bourbon steak is solid and probably fits your bill the most.

Reply to Mt. Vernon Triangle Is the Best Neighborhood by NoxDust
There are plenty of areas with lots of grocery store options. For instance just a little north of Mt Vernon, Shaw has easy access to Whole Foods, Giant, and Trader Joe's. Since you're in NoVA I'd suggest spending a weekend in a few of the neighborhoods you're considering. A spreadsheet of wants and amenities is only going to tell you so much. Also don't discount how much you're going to walk. Most people I know don't use the metro except for work or going to events etc. It's very common to be able to walk to all the things you need on a day to day basis.

It's the local mass transit train system. Are the tickets booked? If there is any way you can fly to DCA it'll be much easier to get to union station from DCA.
