Reply to comment by Meatball_pressure in 'Landmark achievement': Rolls-Royce and easyJet hail successful hydrogen jet engine test by Wagamaga
The fact that hydrogen is usable as a fuel is not really revolutionary. If they have figured out a way to make large quantities of hydrogen in an environmentally friendly way, that would be something.
But we're still going to use batteries because hydrogen fuel cells take a lot of space and are more complicated than a simple battery.

That rather suggests that there is the record for the farthest rated human spacecraft that just let it's crew died when the mission was completed.

Gorillas are interesting because they actually possess the necessary vocal cords for language, but more recent study using the whole Koko thing, have proven they don't possess the corresponding language centre in the brain. It's like they are waiting to evolve.
More accurately the vocal cords evolved much earlier in evolutionary history for some other, unknown, purpose and were "repurposed" later on for speech when we evolved the language centre in the brain, which tends to happen a lot in evolution.

My cat understands how to get me to give her food. She goes and looks sadly at her empty food bowl, and then looks sadly at me. If she could get that food by pressing the easy and convenient "food" button, she would work it out. But that's not the same thing as comprehending language.

It happens because some people tie there self worth to an opinion. Especially if that opinion is really stupid.
If someone has been in that they don't like cheese there probably going to be willing to accept that other people liking cheese is normal.
However if you change cheese to "divisive politician here", that goes out the window.

Reply to comment by _googlefanatic_ in If freezing tissue generally damages the cells, how are we able to freeze human eggs and embryos for birthing later? by badblackguy
Because when they're independent cells they are independent but when they're in a tissue they're part of a larger structure, so if that larger structure is damaged the whole tissue becomes nonviable.
If 10% of a heart dies, then the entire heart no longer works.
Going back to the house example, if a structural support beam is one of the 10% of wooden beams that rots, then the whole house is going to fall down. It's not a perfect analogy because obviously there's some bits of wood which are more important than others, but you get the idea.

Statistically based on the shows presenters, that's not true. As none of them have died as a result of driving fast.

Robust in this case meaning that everyone is told not to use the same password for everything. But obviously MPs can do what they want because you can't tell them anything.

That makes sense. Same reason that in the UK we drive on the left.
Back in the days when people rode horses a lot that used to leave your sword arm (right-handed for the vast majority of the population) free. Your vulnerable left side was protected by the verge.
In Europe and the US they just got stabbed a lot

In fact Apple invented USB C.
The fact that it has been on Android phones by years is irrelevant, they only copied Apple.

I couldn't even install our company app on my work phone without administration rights (someone forgot to install it before giving it to me). Installing literally anything is lockdown.
I assume that that is the same is true of government phones as well. I'd sure as hell hope it is.
