this is an incredibly disruptive thing to so many peoples lives. The Enfield office has a lot of families, homeowners - and they aren’t big on WFH even though a lot of their jobs are computer based and have zero reason to be in person. Lego is a pretty stingy operation (I’ve heard) when it comes to salary - and they are fine losing a ton of tenured talent and restaffing with more junior folks.

Impressive that they somehow made it worse. Also just heartwarming to know that it looks like this because of cost saving design measures, just what we deserve. So every time you look at it you’re seeing a budget version. Gotta eat humble pie here because now the old version ain’t looking so bad.

I don’t want to be insensitive but my position is always… no one is entitled to live anywhere in this country. I’ve had to live in depressed areas and cities until I was able to afford it here, and I also may have to leave. There’s so many affordable places in this country that people brush off as being not worthy of them… when in fact, they are, and are better than we know. When circumstances make habitation unlivable… you hedge your bets on somewhere else. It seems so much easier to even do today than 50 years ago with the internet and easy travel. 100 years ago you may have moved and never see your family again. Now that’s not an issue.

Reply to Restaurant deals? by bpear

restaurant deal days occur when the food is about to expire. Nothing wrong with that, usually food is fine for a while. be wary of seafood deals and trust your nose.

I rented from Rose back in the day and I had nothing but great experiences with her. That said, she was a real stickler for procedure. I remember signing any document with her was like diffusing a bomb. She never did anything shady, just had zero flexibility with her rules. The lease said absolutely no smoking - and when she smelled it (we were) we got that ALL CAPS letter. What was it that you were waiting to be “approved” on?

Next time you feel the need to publicly congratulate yourself by dunking the most lukewarm take possible, just let it go. The consensus on this very liberally minded board is that your situational instincts are misguided. Your public admission of inaction will likely lead to someone else’s misfortune. When an innocent bystander gets their face slashed by this person, that’s on you.

It’s a pretty tough pill to swallow. I don’t recommend. Quick math, 260 working days a year. 2.5+ hours of public transport a day (or more, but never less) remember getting to and from the train station… earlier than the train gets there. It ends up being ~27 days of your year will be spent commuting A MONTH OF YOUR YEAR in slight or moderate discomfort. You can always make more money in life you can’t make more time.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. That said I strongly disagree with your assessment and generalizations. I can guarantee the work done at your college was no less shallow or derivative, no more mindful or critically sophisticated. It’s art school…. only ~1/10 kids’ art has more aesthetic value than when it was blank paper in the store anyhow.
