No disrespect meant at all, but looking at some of your responses to what people have suggested show you’re at the beginning of your journey to wood burning. We’ve all been there. I know it seems really straight forward: wood + light it on fire = everyone enjoys. Unfortunately there are many variables. I’d recommend doing a bit of reading on the subject because there are so many pitfalls than can ruin your experience and lighting a fire in your home can seriously be fatal. Once you get going it can be great. But I’d suggest this : top down fire

To answer directly. Cut / split / stack wood asap. Stack off the ground and top cover. For most types of wood 2 years is good for drying. Oak needs 3.

Reply to Subaru “all weather tire” question. by BallLikeLucky
When my now wife and I were dating we came from CT to visit Burlington in the winter. Drove up and got surprised by some snow, just a couple of inches max. I was in a Toyota Yaris w snow tires. 89N was a bit of a mess and there were cars off the highway and one I’ll never forget was a Volvo wagon nearly vertically situated up a large rock. We never had a problem. In my experience snow tires on FWD > all wheel drive w all seasons.

Stowe is beautiful in the winter in my opinion. My then fiancé / now wife stayed at a Bed & Breakfast and loved it.
