Who cares, this isn't important. If it bothers you, the part is $15 and you can put it in yourself.

>When I get up to 80mph it starts to vibrate to a degree that makes it harder to stay straight.

You need an alignment. It's about $80.

My beater is dying and I'm struggling with the decision to buy in this range with the same salary. It's more the opportunity cost that gets me: I'd much rather invest in retirement or save for building a house than put that money into a car. But man the reliability would be nice! : )

Nope. Your exhaust will likely fail emissions inspection and your car might start getting louder. You can wrap the exhaust and converter if it starts getting too loud, but this doesn't affect your cars performance at all.

If your goal is to save on taxes, then yes, you should get married.

Withholding is only an estimate that gets reconciled when you do your tax return at the end of the year. So in one sense, yes it will lower your taxes for the months before you get married on paper. But in a more literal sense, you will not get 'corrected' paychecks or money returned early or anything like that.

An underutilized benefit some companies offer is a Benefits or Health Advocate. I basically call them about any questionable issues on my bill, give them permission to speak on my behalf, and they spend the day on hold and figuring out what's up. Sometimes there's nothing wrong, but they can at least explain what's going on to me.
