If you use an electric space heater, get the oil filled radiator ones. I used a regular fan/coil space heater for 3 weeks and only at night. It added $120 to the electric bill so I would caution going that route if you're looking to save money.

If you're into HVAC look at companies like New England Air Systems, Mountain Air, VT Mechanical, Avonda. A. Cooper Mechanical pays $46/hr starting for plumbers plus benefits and tools.

I tap a couple trees in my yard each year. That gallon is gone within 2 months. But yes, fridge all the way!

Not specifically a Vermont cocktail, but since it's cold out try a hot toddy. Use some Cold Hollow apple cider in place of water.

Try looking into buying a fixer upper duplex. I did that (fortunately not in the current market), fixed up one half of the house to rent immediately, then worked on the half I live in.

Thanks for the info. I tried my indoor antenna upstairs on a different tv and didn't get any better. I'll definitely be getting a better/larger one and may just start it in the attic facing Mansfield for now.

Yeah that's was kind of the last straw for the Cowboys/Bucs game Monday. Ended up finding a shady streaming link but it took a bunch of searching. ESPN+, NFL+, Youtube, etc all charge now with no free trial.

Materials are still high and not many home builders have workers. A friend looked into putting a 16'x20' addition on in late summer and lowest quote was $95k.

Papa Frank's in Winooski. You can't get a better value or hole in the wall atmosphere. Plus they have great beer prices on Mondays I believe.
edit: can't type correctly

Costco is still around $0.28 an egg if you pick up the 72 pack. Would definitely prefer the rich yolk eggs from local spots but I go through far too many eggs.

I put up the cheap-o plastic gutters and brackets from Lowes 10+ years ago and have yet to have an issue. They fill with ice and snow but I spaced the brackets fairly close together so that helps.

Probably because you have to drive through towns on those routes and it can get congested due to lots of signage, 25mph, pedestrian traffic, single lanes, overly courteous VT drivers, and so on. VT roads were made before cars so everyone built up to the path that existed then. It's really hindered expansion of roads, which is part of the charm of VT I suppose.

I have older cars so upgrading headlights is limited. Instead, I threw a couple $20 off-road lights on the front to light highbeamers up as they approach.

There's a field/parking/dog park on the end of Kirby Rd where you can see them broadside. They usually go a little after 9 and then around 1pm.

I think a bigger part of the cost is delivery and prepping the site for it. Also they get hot AF inside unless you do some extra modifications. Maybe look into an old non running bus or something instead that can be towed to you.

There's one going in on Williston Rd near Al's I believe. They're fine for the price but Domino's already has pretty low carry out prices.

Drive it till you get pulled over but there's such a shortage of cops that may not happen. I'm 2 years deep in my winter beater and I haven't had an issue. If you do get pulled over, you can tell the cop you're waiting on a part to come in to get inspected. They'll most likely give you a warning (it's worked for me twice).

You're probably fine. I doubt it'd completely destroy the house. If you're paranoid enough then I'd just move things out of the area the tree may fall on. Trees look great and provide cooling when next to a house but I took a couple down when I moved in just for the peace of mind. Good luck!
