History is important, and it's important to know the history of the institution of which you are a member.

For decades NYPD had green cars with black fenders and white roofs

Not a fan of the new design, but it is interesting how many current cops have no fucking clue that NYPD radio cars used to be green and black.

Here in Texas we have District Courts, which are state courts, that handle felony cases, and County Courts that handle misdemeanor cases. Here in Harris County (Houston) we have had federal court ordered bail reform in the County Criminal Courts at Law.

I’m assuming this case is in a District Court, but not 100% sure.

It's not wrong and actually really smart. A big reason that California still has a massive weed black market was that they state regulations make it near impossible for anyone with even a thin criminal record to get a license to become part of the legal market.

Lies and misinformation are now completely woven into the GOP culture.

Well, pathological lying is a possible symptom of certain personality disorders, including:

• borderline personality disorder (BPD)
• narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)
• antisocial personality disorder (APD)

I think the only ones who consider the book “horrific” are the ones trying to ban the book (and often they haven’t read the book, they’ve just heard right wing messaging about the book).

I read The Fountainhead when I was in college, and that’s the only Rand I’ll ever read.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s and I love watching compilations of old commercials on YouTube, you right in that it does feel very cozy and nostalgic.

The NYPD is the example of entity that is infected with a toxic culture, one that has been there for decades now. Unfortunately, NYPD isn't the only department where this is the case.
